The Vande Voort family includes Shane, Megan, and Sullivan. This blog chronicles our family and the special moments and memories we make. Shane is the owner of Classic Aviation and manager of the Pella airport. Megan is a former special ed. teacher and now is a stay at home mommy. Sullivan (2yr)s is the cutest kid ever (yes, we're partial). His interests include the riding his trike, flying for pancakes with daddy, and watching Curious George and eating cheesy popcorn with daddy.

No big deal, right?
I have always said if I had a boy I wasn't going to make a big deal out of him playing with dolls, purses, strollers, or things that were pink. My thought is if you make a big deal with it the kid just wants it more. My other thought is someday Sullivan will have to use a grocery cart, probably push a baby stroller, and if he has a daughter will probably shop for pink outfits. I plan on remaining strong on this but there is this tiny (almost not there) voice trying to plant a seed of doubt. That little voice tried to speak up the other day when Sullivan found a purse his size and got out the shopping cart (see pics below). For now I've shut it up but would love to know what other moms of little boys think!

Well, Jake is 8 and he has a "man bag". :) At first I didn't want him to buy it ( he saw it in the Dutch Market at Tulip Time). But, it was his money and if that's what he wanted, then okay. He's used it to carry his notebook in and go on "adventures". I figure he's boy enough to pull it off. I'll have to show it to you sometime! And, with having an older sister he's bound to get in on some girl stuff!
